SHOWCASE EVENT

The Community Project Showcase at Scotch will take place in Spring Term, 23rd Oct 2025.

It provides our boys with an opportunity to present their Community Project to their mentor, peers, parents, extended family members, and special guests, including Community Partners. The presentations will commence with a Year 8 Showcase Overview before guests move into separate classrooms to watch a small selection of groups present. It is an exciting event for all those involved and a proud moment for students and parents.

Students must be in attendance with the required resources. You will have time to set up in classrooms while parents and special guests attend the Showcase Overview. You are also expected to attend the whole showcase event to support your peers.

Parents, please understand that we ask you to remain present until the end of the event.

FAQ

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

GROUP PRESENTATION

You will present as a group, and your presentation must adhere to the below format.

Work together to assign roles and decide who is presenting which elements of the task.

We encourage you have a script to keep you on track, but try not to 'read' from it; you want to engage your audience, and making eye contact helps you do this.  Remember, you will have your poster as a visual aid to refer to and support your oral presentation.

GROUP POSTER

The group poster should be a visual representation of your project and, along with your oral presentation, provide key information about the various aspects of the project:

  • INVESTIGATING [Group Goal & Key Research Findings]—[CRITERION A & B]
  • EVIDENCE OF SERVICE [Taking Action] [CRITERION C]

NB: Your personal Reflections [CRITERION D] don't need to be included on the group poster, but will be addressed in your oral presentation.

Things to consider:

  • You can use any program to create your poster; popular options include Canva, Adobe Express, and Pages.
  • Consider the principles of design to make your poster easy to read and visually appealing.
  • Include some images of your service-action
  • It must be A3 size to allow for printing

Posters will be displayed around the College to promote the wonderful things our students are doing for the community.
