Suggested Formatting

Currently there are no standard guidelines in APA 6th ed for citations and references when creating an infographic image. Here are some general recommendations:

  • Create a section called 'References' or 'Sources' at the bottom of your infographic
  • Use the current APA formatting in the Sources section
  • Hyperlink to sources if possible
  • Use a small, discreet font to avoid detracting from the main image

Examples: Good and Bad

This infographic has a URL to view their list of sources, however when you visit that website, a message appears saying 'Page Not Found'.

This example lists one source, 'The Pew Forum', but does not provide information about where on the Pew Forum the information came and who created it (such as an author, date or web address).

This example lists it's sources at the bottom, providing a URL for each. It would be even better if they were formatted according to APA so we could see the authors and date created.
