The Science Fiction Genre

This term, the Middle School Library is focussing on books from the science fiction (sci-fi) genre! Never read science fiction? 

Imagine a world where anything is possible—where spaceships zoom across the galaxy, robots think like humans, and time travel lets you visit ancient civilisations or see the future! That's what science fiction is all about. It’s a genre where imagination and science collide to create stories filled with wild adventures, imaginary tech, and mind-bending ideas. 

What makes sci-fi so fascinating is that it’s not just about new gadgets or spaceships—it’s about asking big “What if?” questions. What if we could communicate with animals? What if humans lived on Mars? What if robots ruled the Earth? Science fiction lets you dream up possible answers to questions like these, while also exploring important themes about humanity, the environment, technology, and our future.
