STORY: The middle son of a noble family in 13th century Denmark, Leif aspired to be a warrior instead learning to manage his family’s estate and chose to undertake military service for the King, Valdemar II. After distinguishing himself during the Battle of Lyndanisse, where his company fought valiantly to defend the Danish stronghold from the Estonians, Leif was awarded the Order of the Dannebrog. To maintain his fighting skills in between battles, he participated in tournaments against other members of nobility, where he was the reigning champion for several years.
