Invasive Species at Lake Claremont Wetland
Introduction

What is an Invasive Species?

Invasive species are animals and plants that have been brought into a new environment and survive at the expense of the native plants or animals. You may have already heard of these invasive species in Australia: rabbits, foxes, the shot-hole borer, cane toads, and even cats that end up roaming the wild. Find out more about invasive species by going through the resources below.

What is a Wetland?

The city of Perth was built over wetlands (shallow, watery areas located near the edges of larger bodies of water). Wetlands play an important role by providing a habitat for many species of plants and animals, removing pollution from the air and water, and protecting the lands from natural disasters such as floods and fires. Click on the links below to learn more about wetlands in Australia.
