Play summary
Plot summary of the play:
The plot is based on a 1579 English translation and follows Cleopatra and Mark Antony from the Sicillian revolt to Cleopatra's suicide during the War of Actium. The tragedy is set in Egypt. Antony is fascinated by Cleopatra, and ignores his wife and duties that await him back in Rome. Antony returns to Rome eventually and marries, enraging Cleopatra. Antony reunites with Cleopatra, crowning them rulers of Egypt, setting him on a path of war against Rome. Antony loses the battle and both he and Cleopatra die together by suicide.
