My Home Initiative
-
The “My Home” initiative is an immediate response to provide housing for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Research from far and wide tells us that we need housing first and foremost if we have any chance of significantly reducing the number of people who are homeless. “My Home” uses a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model which brings together Government, Church, Private Sector, Community Housing Providers (CHP) and Support Services Providers to share the responsibility of creating housing for people who are homeless and helping them re-establish themselves in our community.
“My Home” is live. As long as the Government or other landowners provide us with land, we will continue to build houses across Western Australia.

We’re excited to announce that the first wall panels have been erected at our My Home site in North Fremantle.
It’s mind blowing how quickly the homes can be assembled due to the prefabricated panels, which allow us to have walls up and roof on - insulation included - within a day.

The innovative “My Home” project, the brainchild of architect Michelle Blakeley, involves the erection of cheap but stylish flat-pack homes on public or church-owned land.

Nine months ago, this block of land was pretty much empty. But within weeks it will become home to more than a dozen older women who would otherwise be homeless.
It is hoped the innovative solution could play a key role in tackling Australia's stubborn housing and homelessness crisis.
