Following the 2022 International Women's Day, hosts Obi and Ethan (both Year 8) were fortunate to welcome Hon Mia Davies MLA to the podcast studio. Mia is the current Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the National Party in Western Australia – the first woman ever to be appointed in this role. As they reflect on this year's theme, Breaking the Bias, Mia discusses breaking into a male-dominated industry and how we can continue to level the playing field. Taking us back to her upbringing on a farm in small-town Yorkrakine and her time as a boarder at Methodist Ladies' College, Mia touches on how these experiences fuelled her confidence and the desire to make changes. Mia shares the moments she's proud of and the battles along the way, suggesting that the best way for us to move forward is to amplify diverse voices – starting with young people taking leadership opportunities whenever they can.

Now the Leader of the National Party in Western Australia, Mia reflects on growing up in the country and how it kickstarted her passion for evening the gap between regional and metropolitan communities. In addition, they touch on Mia's transition to boarding, her decision to pursue a career in politics and her special connection to Harry 'Mick' Gayfer AM (OSC 1942).
