Josh's House Project - What it's about

Josh Byrne, an environmental scientist and well-known TV presenter (ABC's Gardening Australia), has undertaken an ambitious house project involving the design and construction of two 10-star energy efficient family homes in the  suburb of Hilton.

The primary aim of this exercise is to prove that resource efficient housing can be built using fairly conventional materials, established building methods and within a reasonable time frame to completion.

"The homes are thermally comfortable year round, without the need for air conditioning or additional heating. They generate more electricity than they use, and will harvest and recycle water. In addition to private garden areas, a common productive garden supplies both houses with fresh food." (Josh's House, 2012)
