Introduction
Welcome to Scotch College Online Teaching (SCOT). This guide has been created to support teachers in the creation of rich and engaging digital learning environments.
The educational technology landscape is changing rapidly, and the types of technology available to schools are constantly changing. Partly as a result of this teaching practices are evolving away from a teacher-directed approach to a student-centred and teacher-guided approach.
At Scotch College students are explicitly taught the skills they need to navigate their way through a constantly changing technology landscape. These skills, called the ‘Approaches to Learning’ include: self-management, social, communication, research, creative, and critical thinking skills.
Students consider the different technologies available to them and as technologies evolve students are supported to adapt to new ways of working with these new technologies. Throughout the learning process students are also expected to understand the implications of new technologies and limit the risks to themselves and others in the digital environment.

This video from the OECD imagines the future of education and skills in 2030, it is not unlike what is happening at Scotch College today.
