Teams
Teams is a secure Video Conferencing platform for remote learning designed for education. Videos recorded in the Teams environment are collected and stored in accordance with Australian laws and child safe practices. The teacher can control which staff and/or students have access to the Teams videos through Microsoft Stream.
Scotch College Protocols for Teams
Scotch College uses a naming protocol across digital platforms making it easy for students and teachers to locate class resources.
TEAMS Naming Protocol
Your curriculum Leader has set out the naming protocol
*** Important, no staff name will be included within the team name. Team names not matching Seqta will be deleted. Do not rename old teams.
Example Year 9 - 09AME.1.2022 Media
Teams must be shared with the Dean and Director of Teaching and Learning. This allows Teams to be shared with staff (new or relief) as required .
TEAMS Additional Shared Staff
MS - plus ACL plus Dean T & L
SS - plus Curriculum Leader plus Dean T & L
If you are taking over a class and would like to use Teams firstly check that Teams has not already been created. Your Curriculum Leader will be able to help you locate existing Teams.
Typical Teams Scenarios
Student misbehaving on live video
If a student does not comply with expected behavior whilst using MS Teams Video you can make the student an attendee. This limits their ability to show their screen, adjust the meeting settings but still allows the students to use their microphone and video at your request.
The video above runs through how you adjust an individual student as an attendee.
Student goes missing throughout the lesson
To avoid off-task behaviour or students going AWOL check in with the students at the beginning of the lesson, ask students how they are progressing through the lesson and wrap-up at completion of the lesson.
Setting expectations on Teams
- Set expectations before starting the Live Video. Your expectations can be posted on the Class Teams.
- Let the students know when you are going to start.
- Let the students know what you are going to cover.
- Deliver the video lesson.
- Let the student know how to ask questions; on the post, via chat (one-one-one) or via video?
